Eastern Kazakhstan airport on the Irtysh River
Semei International serves Semey, the eastern Kazakh city formerly known as Semipalatinsk, on the Irtysh river. The airport is about 13 km southwest of the centre. SCAT and Qazaq Air run domestic flights to Almaty and Astana, while Russian carriers operate seasonal Moscow services. Traffic is modest, supporting Semey's role as a regional administrative and university centre.
