Dhofar's khareef gateway in southern Oman
Salalah International Airport sits about 5 km north of central Salalah in Oman's southern Dhofar Governorate. The newly expanded terminal, opened in 2015, raised capacity to around 2 million passengers a year. Traffic peaks during the khareef monsoon from June to September, when Gulf visitors flock to Salalah's cool, green mountains. Oman Air, SalamAir and several Gulf LCCs serve the airport.
