Sweden's newest airport, built for the Sälen ski resorts
Scandinavian Mountains Airport opened in 2019 to serve the Sälen-Trysil ski region straddling the Swedish-Norwegian border. It sits in Sweden's Malung-Sälen municipality but draws traffic from both countries. Service is heavily seasonal, peaking from December to April with charter and scheduled flights from the UK, Denmark, and the Netherlands. Outside the ski season the schedule is minimal.
Major carriers: SAS, BRA Sverige Flyg. Low-cost carriers: Ryanair.
