Tripoli's working civilian airport, 8 km east of the city center
Mitiga International is the operational civilian airport for Tripoli, sitting about 8 km east of the city center on the site of a former US airbase. It has handled most of the capital's traffic since Tripoli International (TIP) was damaged in 2014. Libyan Airlines, Libyan Wings, Berniq Airways and Buraq Air run domestic flights and a thin network of regional services to Tunis, Istanbul and Cairo.
