Ratmalana sits about 14 km south of central Colombo and is the city's secondary airport, complementing Bandaranaike to the north. It handles general aviation, flight training and a growing slate of domestic and short-haul regional services, with FitsAir and Cinnamon Air operating turboprop links to Jaffna, Trincomalee and other Sri Lankan destinations. Limited international turboprop service to southern India has been trialled in recent years.
