Lianyungang Huaguoshan International Airport sits about 25 km south of Lianyungang in northern Jiangsu, named for nearby Mount Huaguo, the legendary home of the Monkey King in Journey to the West. The airport opened in 2021 as a replacement for the older Baitabu facility. China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines, and Shenzhen Airlines link LYG to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Kunming. Most traffic remains domestic.
