Lhasa Gonggar International Airport sits at 3,569 m elevation in Gonggar County, Shannan prefecture, about 60 km southwest of Lhasa across the Yarlung Tsangpo river. The airport serves all of central Tibet, with flights operated by Air China, Tibet Airlines, China Eastern, and Sichuan Airlines. Routes link Lhasa to Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Beijing, and Kathmandu. Foreign visitors require a Tibet Travel Permit alongside their China visa.
