Kashgar Laining International Airport sits about 9 km north of Kashgar in westernmost Xinjiang, the historic Silk Road oasis at the foot of the Pamirs. The airport handles mostly domestic flights operated by China Southern, Xinjiang Airlines, and Hainan Airlines, linking KHG to Urumqi, Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai. International service is limited but historically included routes toward Pakistan and Central Asia. Most foreign visitors connect via Urumqi.
