Pakistan's biggest airport, on the Balochistan coast
New Gwadar International opened in late 2024 as a Chinese-funded greenfield airport about 26 km northeast of Gwadar town in coastal Balochistan. Built to handle wide-bodies, it currently sees a thin schedule of PIA domestic services to Karachi and Islamabad and limited Gulf charters. Traffic is expected to grow with CPEC port activity. Until then, frequencies remain low and most travellers connect via KHI or ISB.
Major carriers: Pakistan International Airlines. Low-cost carriers: Air Sial, fly Jinnah.
