Saratov's modern airport named after Yuri Gagarin
Gagarin Airport replaced Saratov's older city airport in 2019 and sits about 20 km north of the city, near the village of Saburovka. Named after Yuri Gagarin, who first parachuted to earth nearby after his 1961 spaceflight, it handles mostly domestic traffic. Aeroflot, S7, Red Wings and Pobeda are the main operators, with frequent flights to Moscow.
