Bucharest's secondary airport, 8 km north of the city centre
Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu sits about 8 km north of central Bucharest in Sector 1, and is the capital's secondary airport. Since 2012 it has been closed to scheduled commercial passenger flights, handling business aviation, government flights, charter operations and pilot training. Most travellers heading to or from Bucharest use the much larger Henri Coandă (OTP) at Otopeni instead.
Major carriers: Business and charter operators.
